A staff favorite for years, it’s officially on the Tea Bar menu! Here’s how you can enjoy a hojicha latte for those blustery days when you are just too cozied up at home to make it downtown.
Making a Hojicha Tea Latte
Ingredients:
- 2-3g Hojicha Powder (~1t.)
- 50g – 185°F (85°C) Water
- 10g (2t.) Brown Sugar
- 200g – Milk of your Choice
Equipment:
- Tea Kettle (preferably temp controlled)
- Matcha Bowl and Matcha Whisk -OR- Mason Jar
- Milk Frother – we like this one.
- Mug
Directions:
- Bring your kettle up to 185°F (85°C)
- While it’s warming up, heat your milk either on the stove in a small sauce pan, or in the microwave (1 min 30 sec) in a mug.
- Add hojicha to your mason jar or matcha bowl, add the water, and whisk until a foam forms – just like you would for matcha.
- Use the milk froather to get the milk nice and frothy.
- Add the brown sugar and hojicha to the mug and stir until the sugar dissolves.
- Layer the milk on top.
Enjoy!
